MP Shimul, wife bought property in Canada
Md Rezaul Chowdhury is a social welfare activist from Natore. He submitted a High Court application yesterday stating that Shafiul Islam Shimul, an Awami League lawmaker, and Shamima Sultana Jannati had purchased property in Canada, including a luxury residence. He claimed that the property was illegally purchased in Scarborough, Toronto. However, their names were not included in the dual citizen list -- submitted to HC, he stated in the application. Rezaul, the president of Sunrise Samaj Kalyan Sangstha in Natore was a social welfare organization. He asked the HC for permission to be a party to suo muto (voluntary rule) issued by the court on November 22nd last year. Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder of the HC asked Rezaul for the documents to support the allegations by swearing affidavit. Rezaul was also requested by the HC bench to provide the documents to both the Anti-Corruption Commission (AC) and the State Council. Hearing on the suo muto rule was rescheduled until the submission
